The Dodge Challenger: its rippling, muscle-bound physique make it quite the iconic-looking vehicle and that's exactly what so many drivers in Morgan, UT and beyond love about it. However, with its heavy-looking appearance also comes quite a bit of actual heft. And, this has been a point of contention with many auto reviewers and fans.
So, what is Chrysler / Dodge doing about it?
Well, it's introducing a Hellcat. Specifically, Dodge is introducing a brand-new supercharged engine known as the Hellcat engine which has enough power to propel the bulky Challenger with ease.
So, how much power does the Challenger Hellcat supply?
Taking its root 6.4-liter V8 powerplant and supercharging it, Chrysler has designed the Hellcat engine to effectively make anywhere between 500 and 570 horsepower. What's more, when the model makes it out of the production lines, its engine could easily make even 600 horses - pretty impressive, wouldn't you agree?
And, even though the Challenger Hellcat isn't out yet, or may not be for a while, we still are able to garner a bit of insight from some recent spy shots of the model cruising around Death Valley. It seems that the tester models have been augmented in the hood to accommodate the large engine - making it the center of attention.
